Hai Phong Tourism College focuses on developing the Party among students, building a vanguard, dynamic team of young Party members

In the context of the country promoting renewal and developing a high-quality workforce to serve the tourism industry, a key economic sector, the work of Party development among students has been identified by Hai Phong College of Tourism as a central political task with long-term strategic significance. For many years, the school has implemented many creative and practical measures to identify, nurture, admit, and promote the pioneering role of young Party members among students.

Unlike students at academic institutions, the students of Haiphong College of Tourism are mainly dynamic young people with a strong aspiration to advance through their profession. Therefore, sources for Party development come not only from individuals with excellent academic records, but also from the cohort of students who are active in the emulation movement “Study well – Train well – Follow Uncle Ho's teachings,” who have the will to strive and a sense of responsibility toward the collective.

In recent years, the School's Youth Union, in coordination with the Party branches, has proactively identified positive elements from the very environment of study, practical vocational training, and social activities. Many students have demonstrated their caliber through activities such as volunteering at the city's major tourism events, joining the reception team, serving as guides at the school, winning awards in skills competitions, and actively participating in the School's activities… This is an important “nursery” for identifying nuclei for Party development work.

Currently, the work of Party development among students is carried out by the party cells within the Party Committee of Hai Phong College of Tourism according to the motto: “Early identification – Timely training – Admission following proper procedures – Assignment of specific tasks.” The party cells have strengthened coordination with the Youth Union, academic departments, and homeroom teachers to grasp students’ conduct and academic performance; they promptly select and introduce outstanding union members to report to the School Party Committee for consideration and to send the students to the class for fostering understanding of the Party.

In addition, innovation in the content of Party cell activities has also been emphasized; the cells have incorporated topics related to professions, such as: “Young Party members in a civilized – modern tourism environment,” “Party members and professional conduct,” “Workplace demeanor of tourism workers in the era of integration”… helping students better understand their responsibilities and pioneering role in the industry.

One of the highlights of Hai Phong College of Tourism is that it does not stop at admitting members to the Party, but also places special emphasis on promoting the role of young Party members after they have joined the Party. The school assigns specific tasks to Party member students to serve as the core of emulation movements, act as study group leaders, captains of reception–service teams, tourism culture propagandists, or support subsequent cohorts.

After graduation, many young Party members continue to shine at major tourism and hotel enterprises both inside and outside the city. They are the “bridge” that spreads the image of Hai Phong College of Tourism students as dynamic, disciplined, and highly responsible, while also helping to strengthen the network of young Party members in the tourism industry.

To continue improving the quality of Party development work among students, the school's Party Committee has identified several key solutions:

  1. Develop a pool of Party development candidates from the start of the course: integrate content about learning about the Party into the student civic activity week; create an environment for students to strive.

  2. Innovate the content and form of political and ideological education: combine formal coursework with practical activities and career experience to raise political awareness in a vivid, relatable way.

  3. Enhancing the responsibility of the party cell and guiding party members: each party member is a “teacher,” an “inspirer” who helps students understand, trust, and actively strive to join the Party.

  4. Linking with businesses and localities after graduation: creating a network of young Party members at professional practice sites and tourism enterprises, contributing to spreading the pioneering values of young Party members in real work environments.

Developing the Party within students is not only the school's political task but also a way to cultivate an elite generation of young people — the core force for the sustainable development of the tourism sector. With a methodical, creative approach tied to professional characteristics, Hai Phong Tourism College is gradually affirming its role as a "cradle" nurturing young Party members with courage and intellect, contributing to the Party's strengthening in a period of deep international integration.
